Heather Negus

Growing up, after years of parent persuasion, Freya, an ideal family friendly border collie joined us. When I moved to the highlands in 2001, Skye – a red & white border/beardie collie cross, arrived. We attended the Club puppy classes – progressing for a while, and dabbled in agility.

In 2018, Turadh, a red & white border collie arrived and, in 2023 Ceilidh, a red tri border collie, joined us. This was the first time I’d lived with 2 dogs, which is both challenging and full of opportunities. Both dogs attended Club puppy classes, and now enjoy further training with the Club, including Hoopers.

I love learning how to become a better handler & trainer, and we get involved in workshops and opportunities further afield. Covid afforded new ways to learn, and we now regularly take part in online group and 121 training. We enjoy taking part in Heelwork to Music and have started competing. We’re very much beginners who find creating short & basic routines challenging and, attempting them at shows, hugely daunting. But we love the adventures and the journey.

Most of all tho, we love the friends we’ve made along the way, lazy walks along the beach and late-night puppy cuddles.

I’ve been on the Club committee since 2020 and secretary since 2023. I also assist in the puppy and other classes.
